Description
First some history: Simtek (Simulation Technology) was an engineering consultancy firm and Formula One racing team. The Formula One (F1) engineering consultancy arm, Simtek Research, was founded in 1989 by Max Mosley and Nick Wirth. It originally was involved in many areas of Formula One, including wind tunnel construction and chassis building for third parties. Simtek Grand Prix, the racing team, launched in 1993 and competed in the 1994 and 1995 seasons achieving a best result of ninth place. With large debts and a lack of sponsorship money, Simtek went into voluntary liquidation in June 1995.A new Formula One season is starting and now is a good time to pick up some F-1 stuff. Simtek Formula One team jacket, wool baseball style... Condition is Used. Hopefully the photos will help more than a description, but here goes. Jacket is dark blue, 70% wool with a quilted lining. The logo on the back appears to be padded silk and is 6.5" wide by 10" deep. I purchased it from the team through a friend who was the team photographer. In 1995 Jos Verstappen drove the car. He is the father of Max, the current wunderkind. Not implying that this jacket was used by Jos, but I doubt there are many of these still in existence. I am 78 years of age and am selling my racing items so my wife won't have to deal with them when the time comes. I only wore the jacket twice as I didn't want to ruin the logo on the back.
